Basic Photoshop Techniques Project :)

Basic Photoshop Techniques Project :)

In my Contemporary Media class, I followed a number of videos that introduced me to basic photo shop techniques. I learned how to work with layers, combine images, use layer masks, and add creative graphics, text, and effects. I will use these skills to combine design assets into a simple, unique composite for print or online use. I had fun following along while designing my own image.

Photoshop Logo Project

Logo Project

For my third Contemporary Media project we created a personalized logo using Adobe Photoshop.

The logo process involved the following steps:
  1. First you go to Adobe Photoshop , Then go to file new and make a new file.
  2. Next you made a layer and painted it a solid color.
  3. After you go to the text tool and apply your name
  4. Then you make another layer and put it on top of the two layers you have
  5. Finally , just start painting!
In conclusion, I think it's really cool to learn how to create logos in this class because logos are used for everything.

Photoshop Portrait Project

Photoshop Portrait Project

For my second assignment in my Contemporary Media class, we created a colorful grunge portrait using Photoshop. There were three steps to this assignment. The first step was to take a self portrait of ourselves using Photo booth then we had to get a texture base photo. The next step was to apply the picture and the texture base photo after that we bumped up the contrast on the self portrait. Lastly, we had to switch over to the channels panel and pressed (cmd+click) to select all of the files then we went back over to the layers panel and pressed the mask icon , that should apply the selection you made on the channels panel. With the mask icon selected press (cmd-i) and it should invert the colors then you delete the original portrait. After thats all done you could just start painting! This was a fun project I learned a lot from photoshop.

What is Contemporary Media

In my Contemporary Media class , my first assignment is to define Contemporary Media.

According to Wikipedia, the definition of Contemporary Media is as follows - "New media most commonly refers to content available on-demand through the Internet, accessible on any digital device, usually containing interactive user feedback and creative participation. Common examples of new media include websites such as online newspapersblogswikisvideo games and social media. A defining characteristic of new media is dialogue. New Media transmit content through connection and conversation. It enables people around the world to share, comment on, and discuss a wide variety of topics. Unlike any of past technologies, New Media is grounded on an interactive community."

The way I use Contemporary Media is primarily on my cell phone. I use my cell phone for social media interaction such as Twitter, Snapchat, Facebook and Instagram. I also use my phone to communicate with people like texting and phone calling.
